About Working For DB Consulting
Profile
Formed in 1989, DB Consulting is a provider of innovative information technology solutions to meet today's business challenges. Our aim is to use our technical expertise, management commitment and organizational flexibility to deliver solutions to business problems.
We have worked with clients of all sizes delivering many varied projects; many of these are household names. Our business sector experience is wide and includes retail, travel, leisure, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, charities and distribution.
The stability and success we have enjoyed has been planned and realistic, testimony to the trust we have earned among our clients and our ability to use our past experiences to deliver new and inventive solutions to match our clients' needs.
In an industry sector dominated by technology 'product' vendors, we believe it is important to remain focussed on business drivers and business issues, and to be able to offer impartial solutions. Although our technology knowledge is strong, we are strictly independent of the technology vendors.
The marketplace is competitive. We have to compete with the big firms and win. But we achieve this not through trying to emulate them; we win because we are more flexible, more focussed and give much better value.
A combination of practical business solutions development experience, broad expertise in technologies and a culture which welcomes the chance to integrate with client staff on projects, means that DB Consulting is able to assemble multidisciplinary teams capable of delivering complex projects to agreed budgets and timescales.
Culture
Maybe it's a cliché in other companies, but we really do believe that our employees are our company, and we work hard to make sure that our style and the way we treat our employees beats anything our competitors offer. In fact, we take pride in our ability to attract and retain staff. Staff turnover is very low; achieved through a personalised and caring approach to human resource management, a structured appraisal process which identifies training requirements and establishes personal development plans, and the commitment to processes that ensure people have an appropriate level of awareness of each individual's, skills, desires and aspirations.
Despite the commercial drivers placed on us as a consultancy, we still take into account our consultant's geographical preferences when resourcing assignments. Most of our consultants spend the majority of their time at client sites, and to maintain a feeling of camaraderie, so that employees do not feel remote from their colleagues, does require us to put in extra effort. We encourage employee interaction, such as at our regular 'company days' (which give employees an opportunity to contribute views and ideas to help us improve and grow) and through frequent informal get-togethers. Our intention is to retain a 'small company' ethos wherever possible, so that as we grow employees continue to feel they are an important part of the organisation.
Additionally, we offer a very flexible remuneration package that individuals can tailor to their own needs, and we aim to increase the number of elements in the scheme as we grow.
Not all work is performed at client sites. Sometimes consultants do work out of the Windsor head-office, or perhaps find themselves 'passing through' from one assignment to the next. When in the office you will find the atmosphere is focused rather than frenetic, professional, but hopefully not dull!
The future shows a measured and well-considered growth over the next two years. To achieve this, we recognise we will need to delegate responsibility to individuals within the organisation. Employees with drive, ability and a willingness to take on responsibility - those who 'shine' - will be asked to play key roles in helping us achieve our goals.
